Portland cement type II  (according to the Iranain National Standard, No. 389) is known as ordinary Portland cement and its application is in the manufacture of concretes that require moderate hydration heat and there is moderate sulfate attack on them. Portland cement type II produced by Estahban Cement Company, while having medium anti-sulfate properties, has a much higher compressive strength than the minimum set standard and is in the European standard category in terms of strength.

Portland cement type II for relatively bulky concreting of foundations, irrigation canals, concrete pipes, sewers, sidewalks, concreting in hot weather, coastal areas, public uses and environments that are relatively saline and sulfate attack is moderate.

Due to the limitation of Aluminate phase and low phase-3 of calcium silicate of this cement which cause aforementioned special characteristics, the initial and final compressive strength in standard mortar of this Cement is less than Portland cement type I.
